Hot! Tips for Making Body Scrubs At Home

If you are looking for a less expensive alternative to body scrub, try making your own at home. Here are a few tips to get you started:

Choose your exfoliant:

  • Sugar (gentler than salt scrubs)
  • Sea salt
  • Oatmeal

You can also add additional exfoliants such as:

  • Finely ground coffee
  • Almonds
  • Edible seeds

Choose your oils(s):

  • Apricot kernel
  • Jojoba
  • Coconut
  • Olive oil
  • Other oil of your choice

Choose your fragrance:

  • Essentials oils are an excellent option (Remember that you will only need a few drops. EOs are much stronger than Fragrance oils)
  • Sometimes I add a little castile soap which adds to the texture and provides fragrance
  • For a relaxing scrub-Lavender is a great addition
  • For an invigorating scrub- Citrus, Eucalyptus, and Peppermint are great additions

How to Mix:

  1. Add your dry ingredients to a clean dry container
  2. Add oil a little at a time until you get your desired texture
  3. Add fragrance a small amount at a time
  4. Mix thoroughly

Body scrubs are fun to make, and you can come up with a ton of different recipes. They also make great gifts. If you are making larger batches, look into natural preservatives and make sure you are storing in a cool dry place.

This is good to know. I actually just made my first body salt scrub that past weekend. I have used it once already. I love it.

  4. This is great! I have been thinking of making my own body scrub so I will use this as a guide. Would this same guide be a good resource for a facial scrub?
