Natural Hair Report Card: Top 10 Shampoos

Thanks to everyone who helped with the second annual Natural Hair Report Card. This year over 1,200 men and women participated in the survey. Categories included Conditioners, Leave-ins, Shampoos, Product Lines, Hair Tools, YouTube channels, Deep Conditioners, Gels and Pomades, and Butters and Creams. Lists will be posted throughout this week with the final summary on January 1st.

This list is by favorite brand, not the specific shampoo. The photos shown below are examples of shampoos sold by each company.

The 2011 list has almost identical brands as the 2010 list. The only changes were the removal of Trader Joe’s, and the addition of Terresentials. Some items moved around the list, and Shea Moisture kept the number one spot.

  3. My favorite shampoo is Curls Cleansing Creme. Hands. Down.

    From that list above i’ve tried Creme of Nature’s argan oil shampoo and i haaaaate it. Didn’t care for Herbal Essence either.
    Now trying SheaMoisture moisture retention shampoo….the verdict is still out on this one.

    I like Carol’s Daughter’s skincare, but none of her hair products work for me. I think it’s the corn oil. My hair doesn’t like.

    I agree. Castille soap is not PH balanced and it jacked my hair up so bad. I have to admit, I’m not a shampoo girl, but the SM does the trick and I like the Afroveda Carrot Bar. It last forever and my hair is uber moisturized after.
